    PSI is looking for School Social Worker for a High School in the Cleveland Area.  This opportunity is Part TIME and will be for the 2018/2019 school year.

    Responsibilities

    The Social Worker is responsible for applying knowledge of social work theories and interventions in order to provide student assessment, recommend services and determine eligibility for  services. Provide social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological function of children and to strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning.

    • Provides awareness of, and access to, community services for families with children identified with specific needs
    • Follows-up with other community services and/or agencies to whom the family and students have been referred
    • Communicates with families through home visits, conferences, telephone calls, and letters
    • Assist with transportation for parents and students to counseling, doctor appointments, and special events as needed
    • Monitors regular attendance and intervenes where appropriate
    • Assist with referrals to school nurse, psychologist, speech therapist, and others
    • Coordinates materials and cooperates with appropriate outside agencies which serve students
    • Assist teams in gathering data and decision-making
    • Maintains a supply of pamphlets, bulletins, and brochures appropriate to the age group and families with which he/she is working
    • Attends conferences and workshops as appropriate to maintain an awareness of the problems common to the age-group to which he/she is assigned
    • Communicates and advocates with staff regarding students and families referred
    • Arranges for, and provides, parent education/support groups as needed
    • Responds immediately to crisis situations (incidents of abuse, divorce, school avoidance, etc.)
    • Assists in the development of arrangements for alternative/placement programs

    Qualifications

    • Ohio Certification as a School Social Worker REQUIRED
    • Previous experience as a School Social Worker strongly preferred
    • Commitment to education required
    • Strong and professional written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with others as well as work indpendently as needed
    • Organizational and strong problem solving skills
    • Knowledge of public school policies and practices
    • Must have strong computer and office equipment experience
