PSI is looking for a dedicated LPN's who are passionate about caring for medically fragile students in a school setting.This is a part time position (3-6 hours per day up to 30 hours) in the Cleveland area.

Responsibilities

  • The LPN could be asked to provide 1:1 care in the classroom and during transportation by bus.  
  • Under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse, assist in providing services to schools that work toward the good health and wellness of students and the improvement of health conditions in general. 
  • Assess and monitor student health needs and provide appropriate nursing interventions and services to students by performing professional nursing duties as defined in the PSI Health Resource Guide and the State Department of Health and in accordance with acceptable nursing practice guidelines.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with students’ health needs.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor student behavior and reaction to the administration of medication; provide first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures
  • Assist the RN in screening programs and school programs
  • Complete required documentation of health services needed and provided
  • Responsible for health clinic records and for shared health clinic maintenance.  
  • Provide and promote relationships between community health providers and students, parents, and the community at large.  
  • Special Needs LPN will follow the health care plan established for all students with special needs, including but not limited to trach care, tube feeding and catheterization. 

Specific duties vary depending on the building to which PSI staff is assigned as well as the roles of each position.

Qualifications

  • Current LPN license through the Ohio Board of Nursing
  • Must have experience working with medically fragile children
  • Must be knowledgeable about communicable disease prevention and medication protocol
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws & ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Experience with trach care, tube feeding, catheterization preferred
  • Collaborative, constructive team building skills are required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
  • Must have a current CPR certification and pass a comprehensive background check.
