Overview

 

PSI is looking for a Resource Room teacher to work in Detroit Area elementary schools.   We are offering a very competetive salary range between $38k-$50k.  PSI contracts with area schools to provide educational and health-care support needed for students.  You would be a PSI employee assigned to a specific school/s for the entire school year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other staff members and parents/guardians in order to create and implement individualized intervention programs.
  • Provide accommodations, modifications and interventions to students identified as having a disability and qualifying for special education.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop specialized instruction that maximizes students’ access to the general education content standards.
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with special needs in one-on-one, small-group, or inclusion settings..
  • Support the achievement of unidentified students by providing interventions as requested by other school staff with parent permission.
  • Complete written progress reports at least as frequently as general education progress reports are written (minimum of once quarterly).  Provide copies of progress reports to parents, other teachers, and the school.
  • Administer formative and summative progress evaluations to demonstrate effectiveness of instructional practices.

 

**Professional duties may vary depending upon the building to which PSI staff is assigned.  Specific duties are assigned by PSI in consultation with school and/or district personnel. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Current Michigan license as an Resource Room SPED teacher
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching to the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) and Extended Grade Level Content Expectations (eGLCEs)
  • Understanding of assessment methods including: progress monitoring, curriculum based measurement, and formative assessment.
  • Ability to demonstrate Highly Qualified (HQ) status for elementary education.
  • Well-versed in state and federal special education law
  • Collaborative, constructive team building skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and other staff members. 
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the job
