Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse, the Health Aid will assist in providing services to schools that work toward the good health and wellness of students and the improvement of health conditions in general.
  • The Health Aid will monitor student health needs and provide appropriate health interventions and services to students under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. 
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with students’ health needs
  • Administer prescribed medications in accordance with school board policy, ORC 3313-713, and PSI policy.
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures
  • Assist the RN with all screening programs and school health programs

 

**Specific duties vary depending on the building to which PSI staff is assigned as well as the roles of each position

Qualifications

  • STNA certification or previous school health aide experience preferred
  • Maturity and professionalism required
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Experience working with special needs population
  • Knowledge of  communicable disease prevention and medication protocol preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws & ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Collaborative, constructive team building skills are required
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have a current CPR and First Aide certification OR be willing to obtain during the orientation period.  
  • Will be required to pass a comprehensive background check including FBI and BCI check.
